Taylor Frankie Paul’s Ex Dakota Mortensen Files Restraining Order Amid Domestic Assault Allegation

Dakota Mortensen is taking legal action against Taylor Frankie Paul.
Shortly after a video of a 2023 physical altercation between the exes surfaced online, Dakota filed for a restraining order against the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star, alleging that she was physically abusive toward him during two incidents last month.
Court records viewed by E! News indicate that the 33-year-old filed the protective order in Utah on March 19. However, court docs obtained by TMZ state that the arguments took place on Feb. 23 and Feb. 24.
E! News has reached out to reps for Taylor and Dakota on the filing, but has not received a response.
The first argument allegedly broke out while Dakota was visiting Taylor and their 2-year-old son at her home. Dakota said Taylor choked him, shoved him into a window and struck him, per the filing obtained by TMZ. He also alleged that his ex’s “emotionally volatile” actions woke up their son and that she was threatening to harm herself.
Though Dakota said he called 911 for help, he alleged that Taylor “pressured and manipulated” him into falsely telling the dispatcher that their son was sick so he would end the call.
When Dakota attempted to put their son back to sleep, he alleged that Taylor pulled the blankets off of them and continued with her “aggressive behavior,” so he left and went back to his home with their kid for their safety, per TMZ.
The following night at Taylor’s home, Dakota said the reality star threw his phone into the wall and “physically blocked [him] from exiting,” according to the docs. When he attempted to leave, Taylor allegedly followed him and physically assaulted him, with the docs reportedly stating that she “grabbed and squeezed” his face, threw a drink on him and struck parts of his car.

“I was unable to safely leave while this was happening, and my child had been left inside the home during the chaos under her watch due to our custody agreement,” he alleged in the docs, per TMZ, adding that to protect himself, he “pushed her away from [him], which she made contact with the passenger seat.”
Later, Taylor allegedly texted him about her bloody nose requiring medical attention, but Dakota felt it was “an attempt to get me to return and prevent me from calling the police,” per the docs.
After the incident, in which Dakota claimed he sustained bruises and lacerations, he said he was “genuinely concerned for my safety and the safety and well-being of my child.” As a result, he requested temporary custody of their son, citing Taylor’s 2023 arrest for aggravated assault, for which she later pled guilty.
Dakota also asked that Taylor not be allowed to drink or use drugs during her visitation time, according to TMZ.

Though a rep for Taylor has not commented on the protective order, her team previously addressed the violent video, telling E! News it was “a destructive campaign to harm Taylor” and it’s “a reprehensible attempt to distract from [Dakota’s] own behavior.”
Amid the ongoing domestic assault investigation—which halted production on season five on Secret Wives of Mormon Wives—ABC announced that Taylor’s upcoming season of The Bachelorette will be canceled to focus on supporting her family.
Taylor—who is also mom to two kids with ex Tate Paul—has since spoken out in a statement via her rep, saying in part, “Taylor is very grateful for ABC’s support as she prioritizes her family’s safety and security. After years of silently suffering extensive mental and physical abuse as well as threats of retaliation, Taylor is finally gaining the strength to face her accuser and taking steps to ensure that she and her children are protected from any further harm.”
