Simone Biles Makes Surprise Appearance With Husband Jonathan Owens at Winter Olympics
Simone Biles is flipping the script at the 2026 Winter Olympics.
The Olympic gymnast was happy to be a spectator at the Milano-Cortina Games, appearing alongside her husband Jonathan Owens to cheer on athletes competing in the men’s single figure skating event on Feb. 13.
Sporting an ivory jacket, white jeans and matching stiletto boots, Simone and the Chicago Bears safety sat in the crowd to watch U.S. figure skaters Ilia Malinin and Andrew Torgashev perform their programs. In fact, she even snapped a photo with Georgian athlete Nika Egadze.
And even though Simone has 11 Olympics medals—including seven gold—for gymnastics under her belt, she admittedly could never step into their skates.
“I can skate,” she told the audience in the arena, “but I cannot do anything that these athletes can do out there tonight.”
She added, “I give them all the props. I’m rooting for them. I’m praying for them. I’m just super excited to watch today.”
In the end, Kazakhstan’s Mikhail Shaidorov took home the gold medal, while Japanese skaters Yuma Kagiyama and Shun Sato won silver and bonze, respectively.
As for Simone’s own return to the mat in two years time at the Los Angeles Summer Olympics? She’s still weighing the options.
“Because I’ve accomplished so much,” she told Sports Illustrated last year, “there’s almost nothing left to do, rather than to just be snobby and to try again and for what? I’m at a point in my career where I’m humble enough to know when to be done.”
“If you go back, you’ll be greedy,” Simone continued. “Those are the consequences. But that’s also your decision to decide. What sacrifices would be made if I go back now? When you’re younger, it’s like, prom, college. Now it’s like, starting a family, being away from my husband. What’s really worth it?”

But the Simone Biles Rising star, who experienced vertigo at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, noted that she still has the “mental strength” to compete.
“I don’t think the reality has set in of what I’ve exactly done in the sport,” she added. “I don’t think I’ll realize ’til maybe I retire and look back in a couple years like, ‘Damn, she was good.’ Because I can see that, but I do it every day. So for me, it’s normal.”
