Architecture practice Studio Plyš refurbished a 19th-century cottage in the Czech Republic, combining stone and timber with new elements in plywood, concrete and fibre cement.

Commenters discussed the project, with one saying “it’s a considerable improvement on the original” and another calling it “a truly exceptional project”.

Other stories in this week’s newsletter included a repairable electric car concept by Eindhoven University of Technology students, a home in Mexico built with custom concrete blocks and a privacy-focused smartphone by Swiss technology company Punkt.
