Chris Hemsworth Shares Rare Photo With Wife Elsa Pataky and Their 3 Kids
Chris Hemsworth is getting real about the key to a lasting marriage.
The Thor star, 42, will have been married to Fast & Furious actress Elsa Pataky for 15 years come Dec. 26. And Chris shared that while work and kids can make life chaotic, the secret to a long, healthy marriage has been nothing other than quality time.
“Making time for one another,” Chris shared on the Dec. 15 episode of the On Purpose podcast. “Just having time for the two of us and making space for each other.”
The Avengers actor added that during their quality time together, it’s been important for them to continue learning about one another, which he shared has often led to personal growth in the process.
“It allows you to forgive each other. It allows you to be more compassionate with each other. It allows you to have greater understandings of both your shortcomings,” Chris shared. “I think that has kept us in check.”
He added, “The moment you run out of things to talk about, and you lack that curiosity and interest in one another, you know that’s when it’s concerning.”
Chris explained that although their work schedules can be all-consuming and parenting kids India Rose, 13, and 11-year-old twins Sasha and Trista can demand their focus, there’s “no excuse” for them not to set time aside for one another.
“It’s challenging but we also have opportunity to make it work,” Chris continued telling host Jay Shetty. “We have no excuse as far as how much time we can make for each other due to the support we can get.”

At the end of the day, he shared that in a complicated world, it’s important to have a sense of humor and focus on “just making each other laugh” rather than fixating on the “intense” aspects of life or “big decisions.”
“When there’s humor involved, when there’s adventure, when there’s curiosity, when there’s openness to kind of make a fool of yourself,” he said. “What it comes down to is friendship, companionship at the end.”
