Dylan Efron’s Real Name Isn’t Actually Dylan (Exclusive)
Don’t feel betrayed by this news.
Dylan Efron—who won The Traitors before placing fourth on Dancing With the Stars this year—revealed on E!’s Hot Goss that his real full name is Nicholas Dylan Harrison Efron.
However, he said he’s “axed off” his first name and prefers just Dylan.
“That’s my first name and everything gets bumped up,” the 33-year-old told hosts Eyal Booker and Lonnie Marts, explaining that he now considers Harrison as his true middle name.
But his moniker is apparently so secret that his pal and former The Traitors castmate Rob “Boston Rob” Mariano—who is costarring with him on new web series Everything’s A Competition—didn’t even believe him.
“Nobody ever heard of that. He’s never told anybody,” Boston Rob said on Hot Goss. “I don’t even think that’s true.”
But Dylan isn’t the only one with a different persona. So, what would fans be surprised to learn about Rob?
“The fact that he’s a girl dad, the way that he talks to his girls, that’s the side that people forget because he’s known as a cutthroat player,” Dylan shared. “To me, I just know he’s a friend who will pick up the phone when I call. He’s that kind of person. You see when he’s with his kids.”
Indeed, Rob intentionally distinguishes his reality TV personality from his real-life self.
“I’m able to separate the games—from the cutthroat and doing what I have to do—and real life,” the Survivor winner explained. “In these games, I’ll backstab you, I’ll do whatever I need to do to win. But in real life, I’ll go to bat for the people that are with me.”
In fact, he’ll even share his game strategy with his friends—and that includes Dylan during his run on DWTS.
“I was calling him every show day but we had a lot of strategies,” Dylan confessed, with Rob explaining one of his tips that Dylan didn’t take: “You gotta start to befriend the other contestants, the ones that are not as good, because they’re gonna get voted off. And when they do, you need to recruit them to have their people start turning their votes for you.”

While Dylan ultimately didn’t walk away with the Mirrorball Trophy, he’s not the only one who has changed his name while pursuing a career in Hollywood. After all, his brother Zac Efron was born Zachary David Alexander Efron, but goes by his nickname professionally.

Sterling K. Brown went by his middle name Kelby until he was a teenager.
“My dad’s name is Sterling Brown Jr., my grandfather is Sterling Brown Sr.,” he said during an April 2025 appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show. “I wanted my own name and it felt like Sterling was an old man’s name.”
But years after his dad died from a heart attack, the This Is Us alum decided to revert back to his first name as a way to honor his father.
“Because he passed away when I was 10, by the time I turned 16 and I hadn’t heard his name for five, five-and-a-half years,” he continued. “I was like, ‘I kinda just want to hear that name again.’ So I asked people to call me Sterling.”
