New York Jets Player Kris Boyd Hospitalized After Midtown Shooting

Kris Boyd is receiving medical care after a night out took a violent turn.

The New York Jets cornerback was hospitalized after he was shot in Manhattan in the early hours of Nov. 16, according to NBC News.

Officers responded to Sei Less restaurant in Midtown shortly after 2 a.m., where they found Boyd, 29, with a gunshot wound in his abdomen, the New York Police Department told the outlet. He was subsequently taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

The incident occurred after a fight took place involving Boyd, a law enforcement source told NBC News, adding that the bullet was lodged in the NFL star’s lung.

No arrests have been made thus far in connection with the case, authorities told the outlet.

Meanwhile, the Jets “are aware of the situation” involving Boyd, a spokesperson for the team said in a statement to NBC News, adding that the organization “will have no further comment at this time.”

E! News has reached out to the NYPD and the New York Jets for comment but has not heard back.

Boyd was drafted to the NFL by the Minnesota Vikings in 2019 and remained with the team until 2022. He went on to play for the Arizona Cardinals and Houston Texans before signing a one-year contract with the Jets in March, though he was placed on injured reserve in August.

As the situation continues to unfold, Boyd’s teammate Jermaine Johnson II urged fans to keep the wounded player in their thoughts.

“Everybody please send prayers to my brother and teammate Kris Boyd and his family,” the linebacker wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter). “Lord please hold your healing hand over Kris and guide him back to health and safety. Lord I ask that you please just get him through this safely. In your name, Amen.”
