SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Authorities are searching for a man suspected in a series of grand thefts at country libraries across San Diego County.

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday released surveillance photos of the suspect described as a bald man, between 40 to 50 years old and wearing a dark-colored sweatshirt, gray shorts and dark-colored sneakers.

One of the incidents occurred on Oct. 17 around 11 p.m., when the suspect removed and stole a bronze plaque affixed to the exterior wall of the Imperial Beach Library in the 800 block of Imperial Beach Boulevard, according to authorities.

The stolen plaque, valued at approximately $4,500, was placed in the bed of the truck by the suspect in a white 2005-2010 Chevrolet Silverado, which then left the scene, per SDSO. The vehicle is described as a 2005-2010 Chevrolet Silverado, single-cab truck with a steel front bumper.

Anyone with information on the suspect or his truck is asked to call the Imperial Beach Sheriff’s Substation at 619-498-2400.
