SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — An elderly, married couple were found dead inside their Del Mar Heights home Saturday morning in what police say appears to be a murder-suicide.

According to the San Diego Police Department, officers responded shortly after 7 a.m. to reports of a man down inside a residence in the 12000 block Caminito Del Pasaje.

When officers arrived, they found an 83-year-ol man and woman, both suffering from fatal gunshot wounds. Police say a firearm was discovered inside the home, and both individuals were pronounced dead at the scene.

The victims have been identified by police as Johann and Kaethe Oesterreicher.

SDPD’s Homicide Unit was called to the scene and are investigating. While still early in the investigation, police say the evidence so far indicates the incident was likely a murder-suicide.
