SAN MARCOS, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — A man suspected of having drugs and firearms in his car was arrested Friday in San Marcos, authorities said.

Manuel Vargas, 31, was identified as the suspect, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Around 3 a.m., deputies found a man asleep behind the wheel of his car in the 1500 block of Linda Vista Drive.

Deputies noticed narcotic contraband inside the passenger compartment and arrested him on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia, according to law enforcement.

A small case on the passenger floorboard also contained two firearms. One of the firearms was an unserialized, privately manufactured, Glock-style, 9mm, black handgun that was loaded and had a high-capacity magazine, per SDSO.
