D4vd’s Manager Speaks Out Amid Celeste Rivas Hernandez Death Investigation

D4vd has made some changes to his assets.

Just over a month after the body of the 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez was discovered in the front trunk of a Tesla registered to D4vd, the “Romantic Homicide” singer, he shifted the ownership of his Houston, Texas, homes to his mother, according to legal documents obtained by TMZ.

The 20-year-old (real name David Anthony Burke) has transferred two homes he owns in the Lone Star state into a trust under his mother, whom the outlet did not name, noting the documents show D4vd made the changes on Sept. 18 and Sept. 23.

Texas is also where the Tesla containing Rivas Hernandez’s body was originally registered, authorities told ABC News.

E! News has reached out to the Harris County Clerk’s Office for confirmation, as well as D4vd’s reps for comment.

Rivas Hernandez’s body was originally found on Sept. 8 at a Hollywood impound yard after police were called to check the Tesla due to a “foul odor coming from a vehicle.”

The body was later identified as the teen, who had been reported missing on April 5, 2024 from Lake Elsinore, Calif., which is located 76 miles away from where the car was found.

The vehicle had been parked near a home in the Hollywood Hills that D4vd had been staying at prior to the start of his Withered World Tour, law enforcement sources told ABC News. (His tour has since been canceled.)

The Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division confirmed in a Sept. 29 press release, “The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has not yet determined the cause or manner of Ms. Rivas Hernandez’s death.”

The Los Angeles County Coroner shared with TMZ that the teen’s body had been released to her family on Sept. 23, with a service held for her at Queen of Heaven Cemetery and Mortuary in Rowland Heights, California on Oct. 6, per photos obtained by the outlet

D4vd has not been charged in connection with the death, with a spokesperson previously telling NBC News that the “Here With Me” singer is “fully cooperating with the authorities.”

And while D4vd has not otherwise publicly commented on the investigation, his manager Josh Marshall—who goes by JMogul online—has spoken out, shutting down rumors that he received an email from Rivas Hernandez’s family in 2024 telling him she was missing.

“This has been a tough time for my family as I am a father of 3 children,” Marshall wrote in the comments of a TikTok addressing the rumors, which he confirmed to LA Mag were written by him. “I never received any emails. I had zero knowledge of anything and I don’t live in California.”

He continued, “Also I work remotely 95% of the time and my job doesn’t require me to have much interaction with any of my clients/David as there are many others that work with him on a day to day capacity, not me. This news is tragic for so many and for her family. I hope the proper authorities get to the bottom of it soon.”

The music manager noted that “a lot of this is speculation and alleged,” but did add, “In the meantime, I am with my family helping them emotionally get through the news of this tragedy.”

How Did D4vd Become Famous?

D4vd first began his career as a streamer, playing Fortnite and other games in an attempt to go viral on YouTube. When he ran into copyright infringement challenges with the music he was adding to his videos in 2021, he turned to his mom.

“I’m like crying to Mom about it,” he told Benny Blanco during an interview for Hero magazine in September 2024. “I’m like, Yo, I don’t know what to do I’m not making any money anymore, blah blah blah.’ And she was on a phone, and she was like, ‘Just make your own music, go get out of my face.’ And I was like, ‘Wait a minute. I could probably do that.'”

From there, despite not having any musical experience other than singing for fun, D4vd downloaded an app on his phone and started making music. Soon, some of his songs went viral, and after more of his original music started to go viral on TikTok, his career began to really take off.

The 20-year-old eventually released his debut album, Withered, in April 2025, embarking on his first world tour shortly thereafter.

When Was the Body Found in D4vd’s Car?

On Sept. 8, the Los Angeles Police Department was called to a tow yard in Hollywood over reports of a foul odor coming from a vehicle, law enforcement sources told NBC News

The LAPD found human remains wrapped in a bag hidden in the front trunk of a Tesla, which was registered in Hempstead, Texas, under D4vd’s real name, David Anthony Burke.

Police said the vehicle had been towed to the impound lot after it was abandoned in the Hollywood Hills.

Who Was the Victim Found in D4vd’s Car?

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office September 16 said the remains found in the Tesla were identified as 15-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, who had been reported missing on April 5, 2024. She was 13 years old at the time of her disappearance.

Her cause of death had been deferred, according to records from the Medical Examiner’s Office viewed by E! News on Sept. 17. Though her date of death was listed as September 8—the day her body was discovered—officials noted her body appeared to have been in the car for an extended period of time before its discovery and was “severely decomposed.”

What Has D4vd Said About the Investigation?

Following the discovery of Rivas Hernandez’s body, a spokesperson for D4vd said in a statement to NBC News that the singer “has been informed about what’s happened, and although he is still out on tour, he is fully cooperating with the authorities.”

Since then, D4vd canceled the remainder of his U.S. dates.
