Following the death of girlfriend Makena White, PGA golfer Jake Knapp detailed the “tough reality” that her friends and family are going through.
PGA Golfer Jake Knapp Breaks Silence on Girlfriend Makena White’s Death
Jake Knapp is mourning a tragic loss.
Following the announcement of his girlfriend Makena White’s death at age 28, the PGA golfer reflected on her kindness.
“Makena was such a thoughtful person whose selflessness toward others is something I will always appreciate,” Knapp shared in a statement to People Sept. 26. “We shared so many unforgettable memories together and now that she’s no longer with us, it’s a tough reality to comprehend.”
The 31-year-old added, “She had an incredible family, great friends, and her fun, outgoing energy will be missed by all of us.”
Knapp, who began dating White in August 2023, also noted the difficulty of her loss while asking for space for him and her family to grieve.
“It’s an understatement to say how hard all of this is to process for everyone who knew Mak,” he concluded, “especially her family and friends, who deserve privacy and respect during this difficult time.”
Hours before, a friend of White’s shared the tragic news of her death while detailing how she was “one of a kind.”
“She had this rare way of making you feel special, and her huge heart was always overflowing with love,” the friend wrote on Instagram. “To be loved by Makena was a gift; one that came with endless laughter, so much joy, and a healthy sprinkling of chaos as we tried to keep up with her travel schedule.”

The post concluded, “We love you Mak. We’ll miss you always, and we’ll be looking for you in the sunset.”
A cause of death has not been shared publicly.
Last month, White celebrated her and Knapp’s second anniversary by sharing a collection of heartwarming pictures together on the golf course, including one of them sharing a kiss.
“Second season in the books—forever grateful to be on this walk with you,” she wrote on Instagram Aug. 11. “Here’s to many many many more!”
White added, “I looooove you sweet boy, you make it so dang easy to be proud.”
