See First Look at Sarah Michelle Gellar Reprising Role in ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’
Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. know their daughter is all that.
The actress, 48, and actor, 49, recently celebrated their daughter Charlotte‘s 16th birthday, and Sarah revealed the very special gift she received for her special day: a brand new black Jeep Rubicon adorned with a big red bow.
“16 years ago today, you made me a mom,” Sarah wrote in her Sept. 19 post, which featured photos of Charlotte when she was a baby. “I believe the quote is … a daughter is just a little girl who grows up to be your best friend. Charlotte, you are that and so much more. You are strong, you are inspiring, you are kind, you are funny (almost as funny as me) and most importantly you are one of a kind, the best kind.”
Of her newly eligible driver, the Buffy the Vampire Slayer actress continued, “Im so lucky to call you my best friend. And I’m equally excited to finally be your passenger PRINZEss.”
Sarah also gave a look inside her Sweet Sixteen festivities with photos of sparklers and balloons, as well as two pics of her daughter’s shiny new wheels.
While not every 16-year-old’s birthday gift is as lavish as a new Jeep, Sarah and Freddie—who met on the set of their 1997 film I Know What You Did Last Summer—typically keep their family life pretty normal when it comes to raising Charlotte and son Rocky, 12.
“Dinners for me are really important,” Sarah told E! News in February 2024. “We’re a food family, food friends, we love to cook.”
And she shared that they have house rules just like anyone else.
“If we’re all at home eating dinner together, there are no phones,” the Do Revenge actress said. “It’s a moment of connection.”

Unplugging is important to Sarah when it comes to her kids. While she noted that at home, they’ll often encourage their children to swap screen time to “play board games” or “go shoot some hoops,” extracurricular activities have also been an integral part of raising well-rounded and well-adjusted kids.
“Having activities for these kids is really important because it does give them something outside where they’re not on these devices,” she explained. “That’s equally as important.”
