SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A driver died Saturday in a multi-vehicle crash on State Route 56 in the northeastern San Diego area.

The incident occurred around 9:52 p.m. on SR-56 westbound near Black Mountain Road, the California Highway Patrol said in a news release.

Authorities say a white Toyota and black Porsche were traveling westbound on SR-56 when the black Porsche for unknown reasons crashed into the rear end of the white Toyota.

The black Porsche then veered across the westbound lanes and crashed head-on into a gray Ford traveling in the eastbound lanes, per CHP.

The drivers of the white Toyota and gray Ford were taken to a hospital for moderate injuries, while the driver of the black Porsche was pronounced dead at the scene.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the results of a toxicology report as well as the identity of the deceased.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the CHP San Diego Area directly at 858-293-6000.
