SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A warmup is in store for the county at the beginning of the workweek, with tropical moisture entering and bringing a chance for showers.

By Tuesday, the coast and valleys will run about 5 to 10 degrees above average for this time of year. Daytime highs will be several degrees above average on Tuesday across the county.

Tuesday highs
San Diego: 82°
Vista: 88°
Chula Vista: 80°
Escondido: 91°
Alpine: 91°
Borrego: 103°

The second half of the week brings temperatures back down with a cooling trend and tropical moisture left over from Tropical Storm Mario, which means the county can expect rain.

The moist and unstable conditions will usher in showers and thunderstorms with the coastal and inland valley regions preparing for a 20 to 30 percent chance of rain.

Meanwhile, the mountains and deserts will see higher rain chances ranging from 30 to 50 percent. The rain chances linger through the weekend, according to NWS.

Temperatures are expected to drop a bit to wrap up the work week. Weak ridging will keep the marine layer stuck to the coast with minimal to no cloud cover by the end of the week.
