Two TikTokers who planned a vacation to Nice, France, accidentally ended up on a plane headed for Tunis—the capital of Tunisia—after an airline employee misheard them while booking the ticket.

TikToker Brittney Dzialo and her friend found themselves on board a flight headed for Tunis—the capital of the North African country Tunisia—after an airline worker misheard them when booking a ticket to Nice, a coastal city in France pronounced “neese.”
The realization came after Brittney started talking to a fellow passenger, who said that they were going to Tunis—and not “to Nice.”
“We’re supposed to go to Nice, France,” Brittney informed a flight attendant, as seen in a video shared on Sept. 7. “We’re on the wrong flight.”
However, the flight attendant told Brittney that was too late to get off the plane as her checked luggage had already been loaded into the cargo bay. Instead, she would have to remain on the flight and sort out her travel plans at her new destination.
“We’re going to have to change in Tunis,” Brittney told the camera. “We’re going to Africa.”
After landing in Tunisia, more confusion occurred as Brittney and her friend tried to sort out the mix-up with airport employees. Due to the language barrier—and the fact that “to Nice” and Tunis sound very similar—the travelers had a difficult time explaining the situation.
“They are making us pay for a new flight, saying we can’t get on the next one tonight,” she shared in another TikTok post. “Everyone is rude.”

According to Brittney, the back-and-forth took “hours” before a third airline worker was able to find a flight out of Tunisia that evening, even asking the “captain to hold the plane” as they rushed to the gate.
On Sept. 8, Brittney shared that she had finally arrived to her initial intended destination for her European vacation. Sharing a photo of her friend posing next to a fountain, she wrote in the caption, “NICE COMMA FRANCE.”
