Man suspected of DUI arrested after crash in San Marcos thumbnail

SAN MARCOS, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI)– A man was arrested in San Marcos Wednesday on suspicion of driving under the influence and reckless driving after he crashed head-on into a vehicle, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash reportedly occurred around 3:23 p.m. at the intersection of Cox Road and Mulberry Drive, located northeast of California State University San Marcos.

The 42-year-old man was driving a Nissan minivan when he sideswiped a vehicle he was attempting to pass, according to witnesses. After sideswiping that vehicle, he reportedly crashed head-on with a Lexus sedan that was driven by a 22-year-old man.

The man driving the sedan was taken to the hospital after sustaining life-threatening injuries, according to authorities.

The driver of the minivan reportedly stayed at the scene and was transported to the hospital with minor injuries before being arrested.
