SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — As the Padres approach the final month of Major League Baseball in the regular season, they will be doing it without their 32-year-old shortstop.

On Friday, the Padres placed Xander Bogaerts on the 10-day injury list (IL) with a non-displaced fracture in his left foot, the team posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, at 1:57 p.m.

Bogaerts’ injury comes after he fouled a ball off his foot in Wednesday’s 4-3 loss against the Seattle Mariners.

The Padres will replace Bogaerts with infielder Mason McCoy from Triple-A El Paso.

Bogaerts is likely to miss the rest of the season, but “has a chance to be back for (the) postseason,” according to the San Diego Union-Tribune’s Kevin Acee.

During the 2025 season, Bogaerts has recorded 10 home runs and 49 RBIs with a .262 batting average.
