‘American Idol’ Exec Robin Kaye, Husband’s Cause of Death Revealed in Homicide
New details have emerged regarding the death of Robin Kaye and her husband Thomas Deluca.
Just over a month after the former American Idol music supervisor and her husband were found dead in their Los Angeles home at the age of 70, their official cause of death has been shared.
Both Kaye and Deluca died from multiple gunshot wounds they sustained on July 10, according to their death certificates obtained by People. The document stated that Deluca died within seconds of being shot, while Kaye died a few minutes after.
And although the death certificate notes they were fatally injured on July 10, their recorded time of death was July 14 at 4:14, which is when they were found deceased in their home by the Los Angeles Police Department.
At the time, police confirmed to E! News that they were performing a wellness check when they discovered one male and one female victim who were “suffering from possible gunshot wounds.”
The police were originally called to the couple’s home on July 10 when an unidentified—and potentially armed—suspect was seen trying to gain entry, according to TMZ. However, officers who responded found no signs of forced entry and searched the property before leaving.

A 22-year-old man named Raymond Boodarian was arrested one day after Kaye and Deluca’s bodies were found and charged with their killings on July 17. He faces two counts of first-degree murder and one count of first-degree residential burglary, according to NBC News. And while he was set to be arraigned on Aug. 20, a judge suspended the criminal proceedings while Boodarian underwent a psychiatric examination to determine his competency. He did not enter a plea.
District Attorney Nathan Hochman originally shared, per the outlet, that Kaye and Deluca likely arrived home unexpectedly while Boodarian was burglarizing it, adding that Boodarian shot the couple with their own gun and called 911 himself.

Shortly after her death, Kaye—who also worked as a music supervisor on Lip Sync Battle and multiple iterations of the Miss Universe and Miss USA Pageants—was remembered by her American Idol colleagues.
“We are devastated to hear of Robin and her dear husband, Tom’s, passing,” a spokesperson for the show said in a statement to Deadline. “Robin has been a cornerstone of the Idol family since 2009 and was truly loved and respected by all who came in contact with her. Robin will remain in our hearts forever and we share our deepest sympathy with her family and friends during this difficult time.”
