Dezeen Showroom: Japanese designer Keiji Takeuchi aimed to bring both beauty and practicality to contract seating with this modular sofa for furniture brand NaughtOne.

The Mimo modular seating system has a classic style that NaughtOne describes as “low and loungey”, with slender metal legs and simple rectangular forms.

The Mimo seating system is intended for use in contract environments

It aims to balance a sense of refinement with domestic comfort, while holding up against the rigorous performance requirements for commercial environments.

“I always ask, what makes people’s lives more practical and what makes practicality more beautiful?” said Takeuchi.

The Mimo collection includes two- and three-seater sofas, a club chair and low coffee tables as well as the modular system.

The seating is available in a range of fabric and leather upholstery options, while the metal legs can be specified in any RAL colour as well as the standard black or white.
