Dezeen Showroom: design studio SmithMatthias aimed to give a classic form a slightly exaggerated edge in this chair, created for British brand Allermuir.
The wooden Curve lounge chair features subtly oversized legs connected to a thin backrest with an amplified curl – two details that add visual appeal.
“Curve Lounge is a fresh interpretation of the classic lounge chair, combining a contemporary, lightweight silhouette with generously soft proportions,” said Allermuir. “The result is a statement piece that balances boldness and comfort, a design we call Bold Softness.”
SmithMatthias designed the chair to have a low environmental footprint and an enduring visual appeal, stripping down the concept to its essentials while still enriching it with details and material choices.
The Curve chair is made of solid oak wood with either a clear, stained or colour washed finish and can be ordered with an optional upholstered seat.
Allermuir says the chair suits a diversity of environments, including hospitality spaces and office lounges.
