Man faces murder charge for 'intentionally' hitting, killing motorcyclist on I&805

A 22-year-old man pleaded not guilty to murder and assault charges Monday after allegedly ramming a motorcyclist to death in a road rage incident on the I-805

CHULA VISTA (FOX 5/KUSI) — A 22-year-old man accused of killing a motorcyclist in a violent road rage incident on I-805 appeared in court on Monday and pleaded not guilty.

Ulysses Jimenez is facing a murder charge and six counts of assault with a deadly weapon. Prosecutors say he intentionally rammed Jorge Uribe, killing him, after becoming angry that Uribe was in the HOV lane.

According to Deputy District Attorney Alexander Fuqua, Jimenez admitted after the crash that he was “driving like the devil” and intentionally struck the victim.

Authorities say Jimenez was speeding at over 120 mph when he hit Uribe, then struck another vehicle moments later, injuring six others. After the crash, officials say Jimenez kicked out the window of his Tesla and fled barefoot.

Uribe’s friends gathered outside the courthouse. One of his friends, Victor Orellana, remembered him as a kind and patient man.

“To have a loss of somebody so positive, it’s tough,” Orellana said. “We know the risks as motorcycle riders, but this is just devastating.”

One shocking detail from court was that the impact was so severe that Uribe’s license plate was embedded in the bumper of Jimenez’s Tesla.

The deputy district attorney shared that details on Jimenez’s mental health is still under evaluation.
