Ben&Ben, Jonathan Manalo, and Robert Labayen have collaborated for “Alay Kapwa,” the new theme song of the Alay Kapwa program of Caritas Philippines that aims to honor donors and encourage listeners to take part in the humanitarian movement.
“Through this, we honor those who give whatever they can, even when they have little,” said the indie folk-pop band, who is the ambassador of the Alay Kapwa program. “What makes this song so special is that it’s for a good cause, nag-eencourage, nag-iinvite sa mga listeners to take part, maging parte ng movement ng Alay Kapwa,” said Jonathan, the head of ABS-CBN Music creatives, content, and operations, who composed the music and served as the overall producer.
Robert, the head of ABS-CBN Creative Communications Management division and songwriter of “Alay Kapwa,” also emphasized the song’s purpose to stir compassion among listeners. “Ang purpose talaga nitong kanta sana maramdaman at mapukaw ang kanilang compassion, maramdaman nila na oo nga may mga taong nangangailangan at meron naman akong talent na pwedeng i-share,” he said.
According to Jonathan, it took them two years to finish the song, and their journey was “filled with heart, purpose, and prayer.” Its release was just in time for Caritas Manila’s 50th year celebration.
The lyric video of “Alay Kapwa” is now up on ABS-CBN Star Music YouTube channel. For more details, follow Star Music on Facebook, X (Twitter), Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
