Sia Reacts to $42,500 per Month Child Support Settlement With Ex Daniel Bernad
Sia is mending her elastic heart.
The “Chandelier” singer spoke out after agreeing to pay $42,500 per month in child support to her ex-husband Daniel Bernad—with whom she shares 23-month-old son Somersault Wonder Bernard—as part of their divorce.
“I’m a sober working mom trying to buy peace,” Sia wrote on X (formerly Twitter) April 7, adding that California has “incredibly high child support.”
She continued, “This has been a horrific year but it taught me how to navigate incredibly difficult situations, prioritize my family and not absorb other people’s negativity.”
In addition to child support, Sia is responsible for covering her son’s private school tuition, health insurance and extracurricular activities, according to court documents obtained by E! News.
The 50-year-old—mom to two older sons—has also agreed to take out a $5 million life insurance policy naming Somersault as beneficiary in the event that she dies before he reaches adulthood.
Per the court documents, the former couple—who married in 2022—will share legal custody of their son while following a specific parenting schedule for physical custody. Holidays will be split up, with Sia getting custody of Somersault on Mother’s Day, Easter and Christmas.
Meanwhile, Daniel will spend Father’s Day, Halloween, Passover, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur and parts of Hanukkah with Somersault.
The agreement also stipulated that neither Sia or Daniel will “disparage the other in the presence or hearing range” of their child.
Sia first filed for divorce from Daniel in March 2025, listing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the breakup. In her initial filing, the “Unstoppable” hitmaker requested legal and physical custody of Somersault, with Daniel receiving visitation rights.

Daniel, a former radiation oncologist, later hit back and requested $250,856 per month in temporary spousal support to maintain the “luxurious and upper-class lifestyle” he became accustomed to through the marriage, per a filing viewed by E!.
He also accused Sia of drug abuse and being a “serious and immediate danger” to their son, an allegation she denied.
“It is true that I struggled with drug and alcohol issues more than fifteen years ago,” Sia responded in an October 2025 filing. “I have been fully sober for over six months and working my program which includes weekly testing and a sober companion.”
But Sia isn’t the only celeb paying big bucks to an ex. For more expensive celebrity divorces, read on.
