Matthew McConaughey Is Unrecognizable With Blonde Pigtail Hair Transformation
Alright, alright, alright: Matthew McConaughey’s latest transformation is one worth talking about.
The How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days star shocked fans on April 7 when he shared a photo of himself on Instagram rocking a new look—and it’s safe to say he was nearly unrecognizable.
Indeed, Matthew traded his usual hairstyle for a pair of blonde pigtails but kept his full beard intact. He also wore a pale pink feathered robe, a pair of blue, yellow and black shorts with a palm tree pattern and white socks with sneakers. He complemented the bold look with a silver pendant necklace, glasses on a chain and a cream-colored fanny pack.
In the photo, the 56-year-old sat on a tennis court with his legs spread out in front of him. He smiled and stuck his tongue out in the shot as he rested his left foot on top of a red tennis racquet.
Keeping it simple, Matthew captioned the pic, “The pleasure is good for you.”
While it’s unclear if Matthew’s new transformation is for an acting role, he’s certainly no stranger to changing up his look. After all, he’s done everything from dropping weight for his Oscar-winning role in Dallas Buyers Club, to growing out a mustache and wearing a bald cap.
“For me, I go whatever the role that I’m playing needs,” the Interstellar actor—who shares kids Levi, 17, Vida, 16, and Livingston, 13, with wife Camila Alves McConaughey—previously said in 2015. “So if I’m doing an action movie or a football player, I go to the gym and hit weights.”
But it hasn’t always been an easy process. In fact, when Matthew had to gain weight for his 2016 thriller Gold, he found that putting on pounds without adding muscle mass was rather challenging.
“I haven’t ever done that,” he told E! News in 2017. “I said, ‘McConaughey, you have six months to say yes to whatever you want to eat and whatever you want to drink. Whenever.’ That was fun. The only thing that gets tiring is the thought of quitting. It was fortunate that I was like, ‘Oh, this is also my job, so let’s go—all green lights.'”

And though his three kids “loved” his gluttonous phase at the time, even coining him “Captain Fun” because he was “saying yes to everything,” Matthew eventually had to lose the weight once production wrapped.
“It was somewhat daunting,” he recalled. “I had to be patient. I looked at myself like, ‘This is not going to happen overnight. This isn’t going to happen in a couple or a few months.’”
