The Masked Singer Reveals Iconic TV Judge, Celebrity Offspring in Double Elimination

Pangolin’s fight for The Masked Singer crown has officially come to an end.

The mystery celebrity behind the cuddly animal costume was eliminated during the Fox singing competition series’ season 14 semi-finals episode on March 25.

As for which musician was behind the mask, it was none other than “Fight Song” singer Rachel Platten.

Prior to getting sent home, the 44-year-old teased viewers with some clues about her true identity.

“My best friend in the whole world was my Nana,” Pangolin reflected in a video. “She would carry news clippings of me and force people to read them. Like, ‘Have you heard about my granddaughter? She’s on the Emmys!’ She was feisty, funny and full of heart.”

And while the singer admitted she misses her grandma every day since her death several years ago, Nana’s fighting spirit still lives on in Platten and her own children.

“When I became a mom, I went through a really rough time,” she admitted. “But when I think about Nana, I can almost hear her saying, ‘You’ve got this, Sugarplum.’ And it really did help me through.”

“That fierceness, it runs in the family and it’s what’s driving me now to make new headlines,” Pangolin concluded. “To fight and get to that finale, because Nana raised a winner. I hope that I’m raising some too.”

Despite a rockin’ performance of “It Must Have Been Love” by Roxette, Pangolin received the least votes and was sent home a week before the season 14 finale. But not before revealing two final hints.

The first was a connection to judge Ken Jeong. As Pangolin teased, “This person and I have been on camera together. Ken!”

Then, after showing off a pair of gold boxing gloves to the panel, Pangolin added, “I like to stay strong in a fight, especially when it counts. And, honestly, this whole thing represents such a huge win for me.”

While Rita Ora guessed it was Vanessa Carlton, Jeong put his money on Lea Michele and Robin Thicke thought it was Michelle Branch behind the costume, Jenny McCarthy was the only judge who correctly guessed it was Platten masquerading as Pangolin.

With Platten gone, that leaves Cat Witch (who, unbeknownst to the judges, was already revealed to viewers to be Descendants star Kylie Cantrall), Galaxy Girl, Crane and Pugcasso left to battle it out in next week’s finale. So, who will win?

Find out when the season 14 finale of The Masked Singer airs Wednesday, Apr. 1, at 8 p.m. on Fox.
