Taylor Frankie Paul Breaks Silence on Domestic Assault Allegation

Two sources confirmed to E! News that season five of Mormon Wives was halted following an alleged confrontation between the couple—who share 23-month-old son Ever—in February, with one source close to production saying filming is on hiatus for two to three weeks.

“Dakota only really cares about protecting Ever, that’s his first priority,” the source said. “He wants a good co-parenting relationship with Taylor.”

A separate source with knowledge told E! News that Paul wants to “protect her son, Ever, from stories in the press or anything negative about his father and wants him to think well of his father,” adding, “Taylor owns her mistakes.”

A spokesperson for the Draper City Police Department confirmed to People there was an open “domestic assault investigation” regarding the incident, stating that “allegations have been made in both directions.” Police said they made contact with the pair on Feb. 24 and 25 to discuss the claims.

E! News has reached out to reps for Mortensen and Paul about the allegations but hasn’t received a comment.

Paul and Mortensen have had an on-and-off relationship since 2022, with her confirming their breakup in May 2025. “Dakota isn’t mine anymore,” she wrote on TikTok at the time, “wish him the best.” 

The same month, she accused him of infidelity on season two of SLOMW, saying in an episode, “Right after Ever was born, Dakota and I were living together and in bliss with our new baby, and I was even considering engagement. And then I learned that he was lying this entire time.” (Mortensen had previously denied rumors he was unfaithful, saying in a September 2024 TikTok that he “Never cheated.”)

However, the pair remained in touch, and he ended up apologizing for having a relationship with friend Shinia Powell in a season four episode of SLOMW after she’d left to film The Bachelorette in fall 2025.

“I do just want to say sorry for everything that I did. I know that caused a lot of problems,” Mortensen told her over FaceTime. “I’m sorry for hooking up with Shinia. Was it dumb of me? Yes. Could I have picked someone else? Yes. Who it was matters, and that’s where I think I went wrong. I picked somebody that was obviously going to come with problems, and that was very s–tty of me to do.”

However, as Paul said in a confessional, she believed “the apology is just words, like it always is.”

“I think there are a lot of things we’ve done to hurt each other,” Mortensen continued in the FaceTime, “but overall, I still think we love each other.”

The pair agreed their relationship was “toxic,” with Paul explaining that her experience filming The Bachelorette—which premieres March 22 on ABC—“will be one the best thing for us, regardless of what happens. This would be the best break and breakoff of our cycle. You could do a lot of healing.” 

And Mortensen made it clear he was still interested in dating her, adding, “I’m happy for you. I want you to be happy. That’s what I’m saying, if you find someone, like, great. But all I’m gonna say—save a rose for me, ‘kay?”
