Ben Affleck, Jennifer Garner’s Son Samuel Is The Perfect Mix of His Parents in Rare Photos
Jennifer Garner’s son is stepping into the spotlight.
The Alias alum and ex-husband Ben Affleck’s 13-year-old son Samuel looked so grown up as he joined his mom at the New York Stock Exchange Feb. 6 to commemorate her company Once Upon a Farm going public.
In pictures of the rare joint outing, Jennifer donned a navy peacoat-style dress as she held hands with Samuel, who looked like the perfect blend of his parents while sporting a navy sportcoat and slacks.
And having her youngest kid by her side must’ve meant the world to the Juno actress—also mom to Seraphina, 17, and Violet, 20, with Ben—because she recently reflected on why she switched up her parenting style.
“They’re just so cool!” the 53-year-old told Marie Claire UK about raising teenagers. “Parenting now has shifted. It’s more about parenting with a button on my mouth.”
In fact, she had to learn to relinquish being in charge, adding, “You have to let them grow up and make their choices. You don’t get to control it.”
And Ben—who finalized his divorce with Jen in 2018 after 13 years of marriage—is certainly on the same page.
“We really want to give them room to figure out what they want to do,” the Good Will Hunting writer told E! News last month about his kids following in their parents’ acting footsteps. “I wouldn’t push them into that. They’re brilliant and lovely and wonderful and we love them and we’re proud of them.”

But when it comes down to it, he quipped that he hopes “they don’t waste their life acting.”
It seems, though, that the former couple’s eldest is dipping her toe into different waters. After all, the Yale University student testified in support of COVID-19 prevention at a United Nations hearing in September, which Ben said confirmed how “spectacular” she is.

“I could not be more proud of my children. I can’t even tell you,” he told Access Hollywood at the time. ““[Violet] takes after her mom. And I’m very lucky that I’ve got a great partner and that we got great kids.”
Ben concluded, “It’s the joy of my life and I’m just very, very lucky. And it makes me happy every day.”
