The TLC family has lost one of its stars.

Charity Pierce, who was best known for documenting her weight loss journey on My 600-lb Life, has died, according to her daughter Charly Jo. She was 50.

Charly shared the sad news in a Facebook post on Jan. 27, noting that her mom was “finally at peace,” though she did not provide a cause of death.

“I wasn’t going to post about this,” she wrote in the post alongside a close-up photo of her holding her mom’s hand, per TMZ. “But.. the calling and the texting is making my head feel like it’s on fire.”

Clarifying that “almost all immediate family knows,” Charly went on share, “My mom passed away today. She’s up with her momma and brother and sister and she’s finally at peace.”

She continued, “Fly high momma. I hope you know how much I love you and how grateful I was to be able to be by your side while you took your last breath.”

Charity was best known for starring on season three of My 600-lb Life in 2015. At the beginning of her time on the series, she weighed 778 pounds, according to TLC.

Viewers followed along on her journey as she struggled with health challenges, surgery setbacks, family trauma and the realities of obesity. She ultimately lost 282 pounds, bringing her down to 496 pounds.

When she returned for the My 600-lb Life: Where Are They Now? special, Charity was focused on starting a new chapter. Though she had been keeping her distance from family because it reminded her of her “past struggles,” she was now following a healthy diet, opting not to drink and trying to reconnect with Charly.

“I’m still not where I want to be,” she said during the TLC special, which was posted on YouTube in October 2025. “I desperately need Charly in my life, but after my talk with Charly, I’ve slowly started feeling like I’m waking up and I’m able to become the mom I need for her.”

The reality star was also excited about getting a job and car—something she hadn’t done in over 20 years.

“It feels exciting to be pushing myself again and have my motivation back,” she said. “For the first time in a long time, I feel like I’m finally living… I owe that to Charly because it took her making the hard choices she did to wake me up.”

Charity added, “I had to spiral down first, but once I had a little hope, it was like my life was put back in me. So now I feel more motivated than ever. And as hard as this journey has been, I’m so grateful for it all—the ups and downs, the pain and joy, over the last five years of my life—because it got me to where I am today.”
