Dezeen Showroom: US brand Shakúff has unveiled a statement light with a five- or seven-foot-long textured glass bulb, which references the ever-moving nature of the sea.

The Tamar Grande Chandelier was created by Shakúff’s in-house product designer, Sophia Han. The light is an evolution of the other, smaller lighting solutions in Shakuff Bespoke Lighting‘s wider Tamar collection.

It comes in five- or seven-foot-long iterations

A pair of slender metal rods suspend the light from the ceiling, and bread up its three-segmented body, comprising a trio of rippled glass tubes containing a tubular lighting element.

The bulb can be specified in clear or amber glass, with users also able to select from brass, bronze, nickel or black finishes for the metal elements.

The light is characterised by its hand-blown clear or amber glass tube

Due to its distinctive scale – either five or seven feet in length – Shakúff intends for the piece to be used in large or compact interiors, wherever a statement light fixture is required.

“I was interested in how the Tamar glass could evolve at a larger scale,” said designer Sophia Han. “By expanding the rippled surface, the pieces begin to reflect the way water moves—constantly shifting, never static.”
