Dezeen Showroom: Brazilian architect and designer Rodrigo Ohtake has created two new basins and a bathtub in his namesake collection for Spanish bathroom brand Roca.
The new products expand the Ohtake Collection, which was established through the designs of Rodrigo Ohtake’s late father, the Brazilian architect Ruy Ohtake.
“Maintaining the collection’s signature organic aesthetic, the designs feature sculptural forms and flowing curves while introducing innovative materials and contemporary perspectives,” said Roca.
The contours of the calla lily served as inspiration for the two basins, with hand-sculpted models used to develop the final shapes. They are available in several different finishes.
Traditional Japanese Ofuro baths informed the bathtub, whose compact design incorporates an integrated seat to provide a cocoon-like experience.
It is made from Roca’s proprietary Stonex material, a resin-mineral composite with an anti-slip texture, and is available with soy-resin accessories including a side shelf and an entry step.
