The reported death toll due to Tropical Cyclones Crising, Dante, Emong and the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat has increased to 26 as of Friday evening.
In its 6 p.m. report, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said 12 of the 26 reported fatalities are validated.
The confirmed deaths were recorded in Central Luzon (1), Metro Manila (9), Northern Mindanao (1), and Caraga (1).
Meanwhile, other deaths that have yet to be validated were reported in Calabarzon (4), Mimaropa (1), Western Visayas (3), Negros Island Region (3), and in Davao Region (1). Further, there are two other deaths that have to be confirmed in Northern Mindanao.
According to the NDRRMC, among the causes of deaths are drowning, cardiac arrest, electrocution, and being struck by a fallen tree.
Further, 10 were reported injured, with three already confirmed. There were eight missing persons, but only five have been validated so far.
Impact
A total of 4,679,046 people or 1,295,808 families have been affected by the bad weather in all regions except Eastern Visayas.
Floods, landslides, collapsed structures, and tornadoes were reported in the affected areas.
The region with the largest number of affected individuals was Central Luzon with 2,296,607, followed by Ilocos Region with 668,352 and Metro Manila with 399,392.
Of the total affected population, 179,231 people or 49,992 families were staying in evacuation centers, while 130,408 people or 31,978 families were taking shelter in other places.
The extent of damage was reported at P4,850,393,569.05 for infrastructure, P430,778,882.14 for agriculture, and P281,660,000 for irrigation systems.
A total of 2,975 houses were damaged—2,482 partially and 493 totally.
Two affected airports have returned to normal operations.
A total of 82 passengers, four rolling cargoes, and 12 vessels remained stranded with 42 seaports having resumed operations.
Meanwhile, 250 roads and eight bridges are passable again.
Power has been restored in 122 areas. Water service is now operational in three of four affected areas. Meanwhile, communications lines are back in 28 28 areas.
Classes in 1,045 areas and work schedules in 868 areas were suspended due to the threat of bad weather.
State of Calamity
A state of calamity was declared in 84 cities and municipalities. These include the entire provinces of Cavite, Bataan, and Pampanga, as well as other cities and municipalities in other provinces:
- Umingan, Mangaldan, Lingayen, Malasiqui, and Calasiao in Pangasinan
- Dagupan City, Dagupan
- Bataan province
- Pampanga province
- Calumpit, Balagtas (Bigaa), Paombong, Meycauayan, Marilao, and Barangay Matungao in Bulakan in Bulacan
- Paniqui, Camiling, and Moncada in Tarlac
- Quezon City
- Marikina
- Navotas
- Manila
- Valenzuela
- Cavite province
- Agoncillo, Batangas
- Cainta, Rodriguez (Montalban), and San Mateo in Rizal
- Roxas, Palawan
- Sebaste, Barbaza, and Culasi in Antique
