California Fire Foundation honors three fallen firefighters from San Diego County thumbnail

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — The California Fire Foundation honored 30 fallen firefighters on Satruday at its annual California Firefighters Memorial Ceremony and Grand Recessional at Capitol Park in Sacramento.

The firefighter’s names were inscribed on the California Firefighters Memorial Wall, including three from San Diego County.

Attorney General Rob Bonta spoke at the ceremony, joining the families of fallen firefighters, uniformed firefighters and other dignitaries.

The ceremony also marked phase two of the California Firefighters Memorial Wall expansion project, expected to be complete by 2027.

After the indoor ceremony, the memorial Recessional through Sacramento’s historic Capitol Park took place. It featured hundreds of uniformed firefighters forming a “sea of blue” as well as honor guards from across the state and families of the fallen.
