Jake Knapp is grieving the loss of one of his biggest supporters.
The PGA Tour golfer’s girlfriend, Makena White, has died, according to a statement shared on White’s Instagram account Sept. 26. She was 28.
The statement explained that White’s passing occurred earlier that week and that she was “already so deeply missed.”
“Makena was one of a kind,” the Instagram post read. “She had this rare way of making you feel special, and her huge heart was always overflowing with love. To be loved by Makena was a gift; one that came with endless laughter, so much joy, and a healthy sprinkling of chaos as we tried to keep up with her travel schedule.”
The post concluded, “We love you Mak. We’ll miss you always, and we’ll be looking for you in the sunset.”
A cause of death has not been shared publicly.
E! News has reached out to Knapp’s rep for comment but has not heard back.
In her final Instagram post, on Aug. 11, White celebrated her and Knapp’s second anniversary with a photo carousel featuring several snaps of the two at his golf tournaments, including one in which the couple shared an affectionate kiss. Alongside the pics, she gushed about getting to watch the pro athlete “live out [his] dreams.”
“Forever grateful to be on this walk with you, here’s to many many many more!” she wrote. “I looooove you sweet boy, you make it so dang easy to be proud.”
Knapp subtly reciprocated the sentiment in the comments section of the post, responding with two red heart emojis.
And in May, White offered a sweet birthday tribute to her boyfriend, dubbing him “my very best friend.”
“No matter where our crazy adventures take us,” she said on her Instagram page, “you make every place feel like home.”
As for Knapp, the 31-year-old was also happy to support his girlfriend’s own accomplishments, such as her completion of a half marathon in October 2024.
“Built for speed!” he wrote in a comment on her Instagram at the time. “So so so proud of you!”
