CARLSBAD, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — Authorities on Wednesday released the identity of a woman shot and killed last week in Carlsbad.

April Moore, 50, of Carlsbad, died in the shooting Friday evening in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 2300 block of Rising Glen Way, the Carlsbad Police Department said in a news release.

When authorities arrived at the location, they found an unresponsive woman with gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect, identified as a person of interest at the time, allegedly stole the woman’s vehicle, which was tracked through license plate reader technology.

The Newport Beach Police Department in Orange County later found the vehicle when a short pursuit turned into an officer-involved shooting, according to Carlsbad police.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office reported that the suspect Andre Matijasevic, 31, of Rancho Santa Margarita, was shot and killed by police after he reportedly opened fire on officers, none of whom were injured.

Anyone with information about the case is encouraged to contact the Carlsbad Police Department at 442-339-2197.
