It wasn’t quite an Adele Dazeem moment, but Nate Bargatze did trip over his tongue a bit during the 2025 Emmys.

Introducing a tribute to The Golden Girls in honor of the 40th anniversary of the classic sitcom’s premiere, Bargatze got the first half right—”Please welcome Reba McEntire“—but then brought a stranger into the mix.

“And Little Big Town‘s Kerry Fanchild—Fairchild! Karen Fairchild,” he added with a smile, quickly correcting himself, “and Kimberly Schlapman!”

It could’ve happened to anybody in the heat of the moment. And, as noted, it wasn’t like the time John Travolta turned Idina Menzele into Adele Dazeem when introducing her at the 2014 Oscars.

But we can thank everyone for being a pro, because the trio of singers simply ascended the stage and launched into a rendition of the Golden Girls theme, “Thank You for Being a Friend.” (And here’s a full list of winners from the 2025 Emmys.)

Before which, Bargatze had some zingers, noting that the NBC series “was a little edgier than people might remember. Like, growing up, I wasn’t allowed to watch the Blanche parts.”
