Jen Affleck’s beauty routine is surprisingly low maintenance. We caught up with the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star to talk the simple beauty products she uses to look Utah-girl pretty, one of which is the Bio-Oil Skincare Oil that moms swear by for stretch marks.
When not rehearsing for Dancing With the Stars, the new mother of three recently teamed up with Bio-Oil for its third annual Labor of Love campaign, which celebrates labor and delivery staff.
“[My sister] just had her baby literally like 10 minutes ago,” Jen told E! during an Aug. 21 interview. “I’m getting emotional a little talking about it. Everything went smoothly, and so that’s what this product represents and is focusing on. It takes a whole village to deliver a baby, and it’s because of those nurses and everyone in the delivery room. That’s why I’m so excited to be a part of this campaign.”
September is the most common month for birthdays in the U.S., so to lend a helping hand, Bio-Oil is sending nursing essential care packages to labor and delivery units across the country.
In other news, the former blonde recently went back to her roots, dying her hair dark brown.
“With embracing Dancing With the Stars, I really want to embrace my truest, most authentic self, and I want to show that to the world,” Jen said. “Part of doing that was just starting with my hair, which is my natural hair, and that my natural hair is dark hair.”

Jen swears by Vaseline — a product you likely already own — as a face cream at night.
“This is gonna sound crazy, but I always go back to simple products. I feel like a lot of people like focusing on really expensive stuff, and simple is always the best. So I love using Vaseline, whether it is for my lips or my face at night. I swear by it. I’ve been sent so many products. I think it works better than most of the products,” she said.
Bio-Oil Skin Care Oil
Speaking of simple products, the Bio-Oil Skincare Oil is another one of Jen’s go-tos, whether pregnant or not.
“I shower sometimes two to three times a day, which sounds crazy, but when you’re postpartum and you’re breastfeeding, you just reek all the time and it just kind of sucks…,” she said.
“You reek and your skin’s dry, and all of the things. So a self-care routine is so important. I’ll never leave the shower without applying my Bio-Oil. I did this throughout my pregnancy, and I like doing it after. With pregnancy, it helps prevent stretch marks and keeps your skin hydrated, so that’s super important, and then after having a baby, your skin gets so dry, so hydration is super important. So just applying that throughout the day helps my skin so much,” she shared.
“Utah girls in general are huge on self-care routines, and so I know a lot of people who actually use Bio-Oil for hydration, whether it is for your face or for your body.”
Olaplex Rich Moisture Hydration and Anti-Frizz Hair Mask
The natural brunette swears by this product for her long locks. “I love a good deep conditioner. I use the Olaplex deep conditioner.”
Mise En Scene Perfect Serum
When it comes to maintaining hair with extensions, Jen recommends “just using your serums. Right now I’m using the Perfect Serum. It’s a Korean brand.”
Dyson Airwrap i.d. Multi-Styler and Dryer
“The Utah curls actually isn’t my favorite look. I would say the blowout look is my favorite. So I’m using the Dyson. But right now, since I don’t really have time to do my hair, I’ve been just doing the sock curls at night.”
Tarte Go With the Faux Freckle Stamp
There’s a secret behind Jen’s signature freckles.
“I’m totally into the freckle pens. For the past like five years, I always add it to my makeup routine. I kind of switch up between a ton. I love [Tarte’s freckle pen] because it has like three or four little tips at the end, so it’s easier to make them look natural. That’s the main one I’m using right now.”
Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez Soft Pinch Liquid Blush in Joy
Jen’s cute sun-kissed glow is thanks to a combination of blushes.
“I use a couple of blushes, actually, in my makeup routine. I use like three or four every time. That’s how much I love blush.” One of the blushes Jen swears by is the Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush in the color Joy.
SKIMS Cotton Poplin Oversized Sleep Set
Jen is currently loving these SKIMS PJs. “I love sets. Can never go wrong with SKIMS. I feel like I find a new favorite set from them every month,” she explained.
