SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Authorities on Friday are investigating a shooting between a Ralphs security guard and suspect in downtown San Diego.

The incident occurred around 4:53 p.m. outside a Ralphs at 1st Ave. and G St., according to the San Diego Police Department.

Authorities say the security guard and suspect fired shots at each other.

A federal agent witnessed the altercation and followed the suspect, apprehending them at 1st Ave. and E St., police said.

It is unknown what led to the shooting at this time.

No injuries were reported.
