Dezeen Showroom: a conductive tape connects LED modules in the Map lighting system, designed for ceilings and walls by studio Geckeler Michels for Italian brand Lodes.
Created to give designers flexibility and creativity even when working with a single power source, the Map lighting system provides a visually exciting alternative to conventional track lighting or LED strips.
The system’s conductive tape is both decorative and practical, providing power to the lighting modules, determining the direction of the lighting and serving as a defining visual element.
“A distinctive aesthetic emerges from the contrast between the two elements: the lighting modules serve as fixed anchor points, while the fabric bands wrap around them with flexibility and elegance, creating a captivating interplay of tension and fluidity,” said Geckeler Michels.
This point-to-point visual language gives the Map system its name, as it looks reminiscent of points on a map.
Map is available in a choice of three finishes that unite the modules and tape in a monochromatic, matt scheme. A tunable white LED board allows users to select their own lighting colour temperature.
