August 19, 2025 – Taytay, Rizal
Led by Mayor Allan de Leon, the Municipality of Taytay continues to take strong, practical steps toward addressing environmental challenges in our community.
Recently, Mayor Allan, joined by Councilors JV Valera, Joan Calderon, Patrick Alcantara, and other local officials, inspected four newly acquired trucks that will support our Sagip Ilog Operations and Waste Collection Team.
What Are These Trucks For?
These trucks are designed to assist in:
-
Clearing canals and drainage systems
-
Collecting solid waste from rivers and creeks
-
Improving the flow of stormwater, especially during the rainy season
With these additions, our teams can respond faster and more efficiently to waste buildup that causes flooding, pollution, and health risks in many parts of Taytay.

Why Is Waste and Waterway Management Important?
-
Prevents Flooding: Clogged waterways slow down or block rainwater drainage, leading to floods in low-lying areas.
-
Protects Public Health: Stagnant water mixed with waste becomes a breeding ground for diseases like dengue, leptospirosis, and cholera.
-
Improves Quality of Life: Clean surroundings mean safer roads, better-smelling communities, and more livable neighborhoods.
-
Preserves the Environment: Clean rivers and esteros protect biodiversity and reduce the amount of plastic waste that ends up in Manila Bay.
From Mayor Allan de Leon:
“Clean waterways are essential for a safe and sustainable Taytay. These trucks are more than tools—they are symbols of our ongoing commitment to responsible governance and environmental stewardship. And because they’re funded by the people, they belong to the people.”

How Can You Help?
✅ Dispose of waste properly – segregate, recycle, and don’t dump in canals or rivers
✅ Join community clean-up drives – your barangay or LGU may organize regular activities
✅ Report illegal dumping or clogged drainage to your barangay or the municipal hotline
✅ Teach others, especially the youth, about proper waste disposal and environmental care
This initiative is part of the LGU’s larger goal to promote #SerbisyongMayNgiti — honest, effective public service that works for the people and the planet.
Together, let’s build a resilient, disaster-ready, and eco-friendly Taytay!
