Alix Earle’s Podcast Dropped by Alex Cooper’s Unwell Network
Call her fiancée.
Former Call Her Daddy podcast cohost Sofia Franklyn announced that she’s engaged to her mystery boyfriend on Sept. 1. Though her lover’s face was kept strategically hidden, sweet photos of the moment showed he popped the question while they enjoyed red wine on a balcony with scenic views of the water. Under the pics, Sofia wrote, “the OG man-eater is engaged.”
The Sofia with an F host also showed off her rock—which appears to be a round-cut diamond on a gold band—in a video of her dipping fries in ketchup.
As for when he got down on one knee? She revealed through a screenshot of a text exchange with a friend he put a ring on her finger the same day Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift announced their engagement—Aug. 26.
And Sofia’s feeling lucky despite the controversy she’s been embroiled in over the years, which she referenced in a Sept. 2 post where she wrote, “found love despite the villain edit.”
In 2020, Sofia left the hit podcast, which she co-hosted with Alex Cooper, after reportedly not agreeing to a 50/50 deal with Barstool Sports‘ Dave Portnoy.
“Sofia did not take the deal and when it got held up and there were no more points coming from her side, we had to move forward without her,” Alex said in a May 2020 episode of the podcast, now owned by Spotify. “That’s all it is. Everyone realized she’s never gonna be happy. There were more and more points and then eventually, she stopped sending points and then she never sent her points. She said she wanted it. She never signed it.”
But while Alex said that the reason had to do with negotiations, Sofia shared that she left due to feelings of betrayal.
“Everything that we had been working toward and planning for the last half a year to year was all of a sudden not the plan anymore and [Cooper thought] we needed to just stay with this company and do what [Portnoy] was saying,” Sofia told Rolling Stone in an article published in July 2020. “I found out later [Cooper and Portnoy] 1,000 percent had this relationship that I wasn’t aware of and not a part of.”
And while the identity of Sofia’s fiancé may be unknown, her public relationship with ex-boyfriend Peter Nelson, an HBO sports executive, was allegedly to blame for her leaving the show until she set the record straight three years later by sharing that he was not more involved than a normal romantic partner would be.
“I think the media really tried to put a spin on it and say he was just so involved,” Sofia said on Jason Tartick’s Trading Secrets podcast in June 2023. “He was my boyfriend. Like, you’re obviously going to confide in your boyfriend about your work and everything going on in your life. But he wasn’t that involved.”
