Dezeen Showroom: warm-toned metals, leather and glass meet in these cylindrical lamps by Australian company Articolo Studios, which are characterised by manually rotatable shades.
The Swivel lighting collection includes a pendant and wall light, both made up of cylindrical glass diffusers partially covered by an inlay of either leather or a textured metal mesh, and completed with either brass or bronze hardware.
Created by Articolo Studios founder Nicci Kavals, the design is modular and available in four sizes – small, medium, large and extra-large. The adjustable diffuser, which can be rotated in 15-degree increments, allows for unique and highly tailored configurations to be realised.
Angling the pendant light downwards provides concentrated task lighting, while upwards it casts a wash of ambient light across the ceiling. The wall sconce can be angled to accent artwork or architectural details.
Articolo Studios suggests combining a mix of angles to create areas of task lighting and ambient lighting over a kitchen and dining space, for instance, or to customise the feel of a boardroom.
The company says the Swivel collection is made of the finest quality technical European glass, offering unsurpassed clarity, and the customisation options include leather in a choice of five colours or brass mesh.
