The son of superstars Norman Reedus and Helena Christensen was arrested in New York City on Aug. 23, the New York City Police Department (NYPD) confirmed to People, and has since been charged with criminal obstruction of breathing and assault.

According to the NYPD, authorities “observed a 33-year-old female with minor injuries to [her] neck and leg” after arriving on the scene near 16th Street and 8th Avenue, per the outlet. Mingus, 25, was taken into custody and an investigation remains ongoing.

Authorities also added, per the outlet, that “EMS responded and transported the victim to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue in stable condition.”

E! News has reached out to Mingus’ reps for comment but has not heard back.

Mingus’ recent arrest comes nearly four years after the model was previously arrested for assaulting a woman during the San Gennaro festival in the city’s Little Italy district. (In March 2022, Mingus ultimately accepted a plea deal for the lesser charge of disorderly conduct.)

According to the NYPD at the time, authorities responded to a 911 call regarding an assault that occurred around Mulberry Street and Baxter Street near the 5th Precinct.

An unidentified 24-year-old woman told local law enforcement that she had a verbal confrontation with an unknown male, later revealed to be Mingus, when he punched her in the face. The victim sustained an injury below her left eye, police reported, and she was transported to New York’s Downtown Hospital.

Mingus later spoke to The New York Daily News about the ordeal, alleging that after the victim and her friends came after him and his group, he “threw his arm out” to protect himself from the woman and accidentally hit her.

“It was instinct,” he explained of the September 2021 incident. “I was reacting to them swarming me and was afraid for the safety of my group.”

“We didn’t think anything of it, but these five girls followed us for two blocks, throwing food at us and yelling,” he continued. “We told them to leave us alone, but they kept following, threatening to hurt my girlfriend and her friend.”

He then recalled throwing his arms out to defend himself from the woman and her friends when he hit one of them.

“Ten seconds later the police got involved,” Mingus alleged. “Police saw one of the girls hurt and refused to listen to the context. My intention for that day was to mind my own business and play fair games.”
