Dezeen Showroom: British brand Skopos combined boucle and chenille material textures in this hardwearing upholstery fabric created for busy commercial environments.

Available in a choice of 20 colours, Esme is made of fuzzy, twisted yarns that give it a rich texture.

Esme is a multi-tonal and textured upholstery fabric

The fabric is designed to withstand the rigorous requirements of the world of contract interiors and is flame-retardant as standard. It also has a stain-resistant finish.

According to Skopos, the textile’s multiple tones make it good for matching to other elements within a scheme, and it works particularly well paired with the brand’s velvet fabrics for a tactile look.

The Esme fabric is made of a blend of polyester and cotton with Crib 5 flame-retardant backing and achieves 80,000 rubs on the Martindale abrasion test, meaning it is suitable for high-traffic areas.

Skopos says the textile stays looking as good as new for an extended period and recommends it for settings such as hotels, bars and lounges.
