Dezeen Showroom: contract furniture brand NaughtOne worked with Copenhagen-based British designer Daniel Schofield on a fully upholstered lounge chair that references 1960s space-age design.
The Fin lounge chair has a futuristic quality, and features broad, planar surfaces that NaughtOne describe as offering “a thrilling launch pad for exploration in colour and materials”.
Designer Daniel Schofield’s background in carpentry and graphic design informed his approach to Fin’s design, which has a gently slanted silhouette.
“Fin is the charming outcome of a playful experiment,” said NaughtOne. “While folding two pieces of paper together, Dan Schofield happened on a form he liked – a reminder that great ideas often start at playtime.”
NaughtOne has dubbed the chair its “leanest lounge” in reference to it having the lowest embodied carbon level of any seat in its catalogue, thanks to its simple construction and sustainable materiality, which mainly comprises plywood, foam, fabric and stainless steel.
Its durable frame allows it to withstand vigorous use and can be covered in a spectrum of different fabrics.
