Heidi Klum Teases What Fans Can Expect in Return of ‘Project Runway’
The reigning Queen of Halloween is ready to serve another look.
As the spooky season nears, Heidi Klum shared minor details about her upcoming Halloween costume.
“Of course, I’m going to do my Halloween party. I’m hard at work already,” Heidi confirmed during her August 6 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, before teasing the theme behind her look. “Ooo, I’m gonna be extra ugly and super scary. Let’s not ruin it. We have exactly 86 days, but who’s counting?”
The Project Runway star certainly kept her hints minimal, besides revealing that she started planning the annual event “months ago.”
As for whether she and husband Tom Kaulitz, 35, will wear another iconic couple’s costume, that remains to be seen. Although, it’ll be difficult to top their matching E.T. outfits from last year. While the Tokio Hotel guitarist kept his rendition standard, Heidi—who shares kids Leni, 21, Henry, 19, Johan, 18, and Lou, 15, with ex Seal—took inspiration from the alien’s look in the 1982 film E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, wearing his black hat and fuzzy scarf.
“I loved being E.T. so much,” she gushed to Jimmy Fallon. “It was so heavy holding that head on my head because it goes from the back to the front. I thought my neck was going to snap off.”

Heidi also reflected on her more toned-down costumes, including her all-black leather outfit from her first Halloween party in 2000.
“Well, this is boring,” she explained. “This was my very first one. I was like, ‘I’m Heidi. I’m going to do a Heidi-themed dirndl-type thing in patent leather.’ But I had to do my own hair and makeup. I didn’t know anyone at the time who does special effects makeup.”
However, she’s now found her go-to artists to work with for the Halloween season, including prosthetics designer Mike Morano. Indeed, the veteran creative has produced several of her iconic costumes, including her 2016 nod to Jessica Rabbit and her 2022 transformation into a slimy worm.
“Over the years, I’ve met amazing people,” she continued, “and they help me now.”

Little known fact about crows: a group of them is called a murder. Perhaps that’s why the model chose the bird for her haunting costume. While the model’s looks have become a lot more elaborate, for her very first party she was just Heidi (as in the character from Johanna Spyri’s German novels), choosing to dress up in a dirndl “but not a tradtional dirndl,” she told People. “And in those days I still did my hair and makeup by myself.”
