SAN DIEO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A crew with the United States Coast Guard San Diego sector intercepted a boat carrying three people near Imperial Beach on Sunday morning, officials confirmed.

In a social media post at 11:28 a.m., USCG Southern California stated that once the 16-foot vessel was spotted, a Coast Guard crew pursued the boat and “engaged in disabling fire.”

From there, crews discovered three illegal immigrants onboard, plus the operator of the vessel. No further details about their identities or nationalities were immediately provided.

No injuries were reported in connection to this incident. An investigation remains ongoing.
