Dezeen Showroom: Australian lighting brand Ilanel has released a statement pendant lamp informed by the shape of comets and their long, trailing tails.
The aptly named Comet pendant light comprises a horizontal length with single or multiple glass spheres at one end or along its length, mimicking the appearance of shooting stars and meteorites.

The tube-shaped component contains a long, dimmable bulb running along its length, which comes in brass, aged brass, bronze and slate black finishes.
Hand-blown, oversized glass beads in various colours and finishes can then be threaded onto it, creating a bespoke light. Wooden caps at either end add another dimension to the piece.

“Comet embodies the essence of a shooting star, a solitary streak of light traversing the cosmos, often accompanied by a luminous nucleus,” said Ilanel.
Its horizontal shape means that it suits being installed above dining tables and kitchen islands.
Ilanel offers a myriad of customisation options for all elements of the pieces, from glass, metal and wood finishes to its overall length.
